On Saturday 29 April 2023, Flux Laboratory Athens celebrates International Dance Day with two very special workshops, drawing on the relationship between body and space. Performer, choreographer and dance teacher Eleni Papaioannou has been invited to develop a dance and improvisation family workshop, as well as a 'Passing Through' session based on David Zambrano's technique.  The workshops will be accompanied by musician Petros Tsamparlis, who will perform live.

Wanna Dance? 11h00 – 12h00
Family workshop is addressed to children 3-5 years old and their parents/guardians.

A creative dance and improvisation family workshop that invites young and older people to travel through their imagination into a magical place. There we will discover new ways of moving our bodies  and dance to the rhythms of live music.  We will explore ideas of collaboration, moving together, following the sounds, feeling confident and being creative while diving into movement improvisations, theatre and rhythmic games as well as utilising sensory media.

Through this workshop οur aim is both children and  adults to express freely with their bodies, interact creatively with all the visual, auditory and sensory stimuli given and have a unique experience that reinforces the value of creativity and imagination at any age.

Let’s Pass Through! 13h—14h30
Dance workshop based on David Zambrano’s technique

A workshop based on the technique of Passing Through developed by David Zambrano and structured as an interactive fun game of improvisation.

We invite you to walk through each other, find spiral routes, create unique pathways and movement patterns, get carried away by the rhythms of the live music and the dynamics of a group that moves, stops, splits, re-gathers and breaths together.

Through simple instructions we will focus on moving, shifting and standing still using the continuous flow of energy in an effective way through our bodies and space as well as connecting and interacting with the other bodies and our surroundings.

This specific workshop is a chance for exploring together notions of energy, flow, speed, rhythm, synchronicity, togetherness, perception, connection and freedom, discovering at the same time the social existence of our bodies and collective motion in space.  What is that moves us?

The workshop is open to everyone no matter the level or previous dance experience.
